Bernina Express price 2023
The price of the Bernina Express train is CHF 72 one way and CHF 92 return. This is the lowest price possible for a single trip between Chur and Tirano for non-pass holders. It's based on a 2nd class Saver Day Pass (CHF 52) and a seat reservation in low season (CHF 20; you need two reservations for a return trip).
A Saver Day Pass is usually cheaper than normal tickets, if bought well in advance.

Ticket, passes and seat reservations
You can buy a point to point ticket for any section of the Bernina Express. Or you can travel for free or discounted with a multi-day rail pass. If you don't have one, the Saver Day Pass is an option.
Note that you need to book your seats in advance. The reservation includes a supplement for the extra services of the Bernina Express.
You're not required to travel the full stretch from Chur to Tirano. The reservation fee is the same for short and long distances though. It varies by the season, and needs to be paid per traveler and single journey. The train and bus require separate reservations. The cheapest season is November to February.
Reservations are usually available for travel dates up to mid-December, as that's when the timetables are updated. Reservations for the next year become available around mid-October.
