How to reach Chillon Castle
The castle is located in Veytaux, directly along the shore of Lake Geneva and within easy reach of Montreux. It can be reached by train, bus or boat, on foot and by car.
Access to Chillon Castle by public transportation
There are several ways to reach the castle in Veytaux by public transportation:
- Take a local train from Montreux or Villeneuve. The train ride from Montreux takes 3 minutes. The walk from the train stop to the castle takes 6 minutes.
- Take a bus from Montreux, Vevey or Villeneuve. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes from Montreux. The walk from the bus stop to the castle takes 2 minutes.
- Board a boat from Montreux, Lausanne or Villeneuve. The walk from the boat dock to the castle takes 2 minutes.

Reach the castle on foot
There’s a paved, easy footpath along the lake between Montreux and Villeneuve, so you can combine a visit to the castle with an easy walk.
Reach the castle by car
You can drive up to the castle. There’s a large free parking lot. Using a parking disk is obligatory.
Opening dates
From April to October, you can visit the castle daily from 09h00 to 18h00 (last entry at 17h00). From November to March, the castle is accessible from 10h00 to 17h00 (last entry at 16h00). It's closed on December 25 and January 1.
Note that boat services on Lake Geneva are limited in winter season.
