I am interested in visiting both places and the chocolate train would be perfect but it doesn’t seem to operate in April. How easy is it to take the train to both from Montreux?

Hi Ava T,

That's right, the Chocolate Train runs between May and September. However it is fairly easy to plan a combine trip to the chocolate factory and cheese factory on your own.

From Montreux, travel to Broc Fabrique by train. You will need to switch train twice, first in Montbovon then in Bulle. The chocolate factory is a short walk away from the station. When you're done, walk back to the station and take bus 260 to Gruyeres. The cheese factory is located close to the station. To return to Montreux, walk back to Gruyeres station and take a train to Montbovon, then switch to a train to Montreux.

You can check train schedules and find all train connections on the SBB timetable: www.myswissalps.com/timetable

You can also travel conveniently with a guided tour. You can find a list of options here: www.myswissalps.com/maisoncailler/packages

More information about the chocolate and cheese factories are available in the following links:

Hope this helps.

regards,

Anna

Anna, the rebuilding (from old minor to main line standard) of the railway to Broc Fabrique adjacent to the Nestle factory has not yet been completed. It will open in August 2023.

Hi 1960man,

I was not aware of that.

The alternative I guess is to travel to Broc Village, then walk to the chocolate factory.

Regards,

Anna
