I am traveling to Zermatt for three days and then to Murren for three days. Trying to decide which passes to get. For Zermatt, it seems straightforward - a three day Peak Pass. But I'm not sure what I need for our three days in Murren. Would it be best to purchase a 3 day swiss travel pass for our days in Murren? We'll be parking a car in Lauterbrunnen and using Murren as our base for three days. Planning to go to Shilthorn one day and different hikes around Murren the other two days.

Also, if we have the three day swiss travel pass for Murren, do we need to extend it to 6 days to get the 50% discount on the Peak Pass while in Zermatt?

Thank you!

Usually when travelling by car and having 'two centre' trip, the best option is the Swiss Half Fare Card, which would be usable in both Zermatt and Murren

Hi DanCO,

Welcome to MySwissAlps.

If you're combining car and train for your trip, the Swiss Half Fare Card usually makes a good companion to avoid paying expensive full-fare mountain excursion tickets.

The Swiss Half Fare Card is valid throughout Switzerland so you can use get in both Zermatt and Mürren. The pass provides up to 50% discount on mountain transportation such as cogwheel trains, cable cars, gondolas and funiculars. You can find further details about the Swiss Half Fare Card here: www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard

Hope this helps.
