What is the Weissfluhgipfel?

The Weissfluh is a mountain in the Parsenn ski area of Davos and Klosters. Parsenn is only one of six ski areas in this region. In tourism, the mountain is also called 'Parsenn Davos', as it can be reached from the town Davos.

At 2,665 meters high, the station Weissfluhjoch offers ski runs in the winter as long as 12 km to the town of Küblis. In summer, mountainbiking, hiking and paragliding are the main activities on the mountain.

If you’d like to go even higher, a cable car will take you on to Weissfluhgipfel another 200 meters up.

Activities

This is what to expect once you've reached the mountain:

  • There's an extensive network of ski runs in winter and hiking and biking trails in summer.
  • From the restaurants at Weissfluhjoch and Weissfluhgipfel you'll have spectacular panoramic views over the Alps of Graubünden. The larger restaurant on Weissfluhjoch offers a self-serve cafeteria (open year-round) and a panoramic restaurant upstairs (open in winter only).
  • The "Iglu-dorf" is available in winter. Sleep in an igloo, and have lunch or a fondue dinner in the restaurant. It can be reached in a 20-minute hike (you can ski there as well) from the Weissfluhjoch station.
  • You can book a tandem paragliding flight.

The journey is an attraction too!

You'll reach Weissfluhgipfel in 3 stages from Davos. Find details here.

Preparation

Check the weather forecast, as there will be no views at all if the Weissfluhgipfel is covered in clouds. Dress in multiple thinner layers so that you can adapt to the different temperatures throughout the day. It can be windy at the top. Take along gloves, sun glasses and perhaps a hat. Solid shoes are useful too.

Allow at least an hour to visit the Weissfluhgipfel to enjoy the views and have a drink. This does not include the time to get there or any stops at the stations along the way. It is recommended to spend half a day at least to fully enjoy the area.

The Weissfluhgipfel is located at an altitude of 2,884 m. Anyone can suffer from (light) altitude sickness from about 2,000 m. Usually it helps to take things slow and sit down for a while. Special precautions apply to children under 2 years old, as well as people who are pregnant or in poor health: before visiting areas over 2,500 m, you'd better consult your doctor. In most cases though, staying at such altitudes for just a few hours is no problem.
